Ingredients

cake

  • 100g butter, melted,
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 140g granulated sugar
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp hot coffee
  • 3 eggs
  • 150ml milk
  • 100g milk chocolate, broken into chunks
  • 100g white chocolate broken into chunks

sauce

  • 170g light brown sugar
  • 30g cocoa powder
  • 300ml hot water

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4.
  2. In a large bowl, combine your flour, baking powder, granulated sugar and cocoa powder
  3. Melt the butter in a jug or separate bowl on low in the microwave. If you don’t have a microwave, you can melt the butter on the stove and transfer it to a bowl.
  4. Combine the melted butter, milk, hot coffee, eggs, and vanilla extract together and whisk with a fork.
  5. Chop up your chocolate into chunks and add it to your dry mixture. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients.
  6. Using a spoon, combine your mixture to form a cake batter.
  7. Pour your batter into a greased baking tray and sprinkle over your brown sugar and cocoa powder
  8. Carefully pour hot water over your cake batter and quickly get it into your hot oven.
  9. bake for 30 – 35 mins and enjoy with ice-cream or double cream.
